Have Handbasket, Will Travel

Thank you all for your prayers. Our Little Miss Handbasket has returned safely to her dad's, and he is now on his way with her to the bus station. She'll be arriving in my neck of the woods tomorrow evening.

I'm manning the battle stations and battening down the hatches. And praying. Lord, keep me from aborting my teenager.

I tracked her down last night and called the police station this morning to find out how to go about getting her home. I was told that her dad would have to come in to the station to file a runaway report to get the ball rolling.

When I called to relay that information to him, he was receptive and gave me his word that he would do as I asked. He spoke with the Chief of Police, who assured him that she would be picked up and returned within a few hours.

In the process, he also discovered that she had beaten him to the punch and filed a report on him last night. They had sent her home with the boyfriend and told her to stay there until she heard from her dad.

The poor man can't get a break. He's retired, and he should be enjoying this time in his life, he says. Pardon my insensitivity, but we're parents. We don't get to retire until our job is done.

I'm just thankful that this life isn't all there is.

You make me feel so guilty! STOP trying to make me laugh while I'm reading about such serious heartaches, will ya? Good grief, Brenda. Abort your teenager? Now that's honesty. lol!

You are the epitome of, "What doesn't kill us will make us stronger."

Hang in there. He knows.

It's good to see you blogging. And thanks for visiting with such a kind word. I miss reading your stuff. I really do.

All I can do is shake my head - your hands are FULL, sister. Praying for an extra measure of mercy and patience for you as you move through these next few days....

Yeah. What Grafted Branch said. Me,too!

I still have to pray that I won't be tempted to perform a late term abortion on mine, and she's almost 20, married and has a kid of her own!

Be strong, but loving and firm. If you can that is.

Love and hugs,

Diane

Brenda,

My heart goes out to you in this struggle. I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I've been doing (and blogging) a study on James...and it seems so applicable to your situation. I pray He'll give you wisdom & peace during this time, and that your daughters will come back to Him.

As the mom of 1 teener...I am filing away that "abort my teenager" for future reference. I am so glad she is safe. Here's to you and the next season with her under your eves.

For heavens sake, Brenda. How you keep your sense of humor through all this is beyond me.

Thank goodness she's on her way back to you. She should never have left there in the first place obviously.

You're so right about our job as parents. And I'll take it one further - our job is never done. Never. We never stop being parents. That man needs to get a clue.

I feel a huge sense of relief that she's going to be with you again. I'm sure you do too. For the most part. :-)

You have more strength than me. (I know where or WHO it comes from.)

On another note, if you do a VBS survivor shirt, I think it should have paint splatters and mystery stains on it. :>)

I have said since my kids were teens that God created that age so that the empty nest would not be so traumatic! But, like Erma Bombeck always talked about, that old revolving door just keeps spinning.

My, my, my darlin. Here we go!

Batten down everything, and lock the doors. We'll be praying.

Call me if you need tactical support!
