The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Mother's Day was good. I got a new computer (YAAY!), 2 new books by Beth Moore, and some dark chocolate. My younger daughter Sarah spent the weekend with my mom back home, and got to visit with her cousins and my grandmother. I'm happy about that, even though Lindsey and I couldn't be there (it's a 10-hour drive, she gets out of school this week and is going next weekend for the summer, and we can't afford to make the trip two weeks in a row.) Sarah enjoyed the visit very much and said she'd like to visit more often - score one for the home team!

I got a bit of bad news yesterday. When I told Sarah that we are coming down next weekend, she told me that's the weekend of her GT (gifted and talented) class trip. They are leaving Saturday and won't be back until Wednesday. Bummer. I won't get to see her. Lindsey's heart is set on going next weekend, and she's been looking forward to it all year. Not sure how we'll handle that.

On my way to work this morning, I got behind a dump truck with "Dump Bodies & Trailers" printed on the back. I was particularly intrigued by the "dump bodies" part, and to be honest, my ex came to mind. Not hatin', just statin'. He had sent Lindsey a card with some money to use for my mother's day gift. It was a nice card, and in it he actually reminded her to be respectful and obedient to her mother. However, when she talked to him on the phone, he told her "I don't hate your mother. I hate what she did, but I don't hate her." (I had to bite my tongue to keep from saying "Yeah I hate that I married him, too.") So he's still at it, trying to prove that he's the better person. Whatever. Lindsey said "Don't worry about it Mom. I know what he's doing, but it isn't going to work."

Anyway, normally I would be really upset about it, and it does make me very angry that he would do that to his children just to get back at me, but I am learning to take God at His word, which says in Jeremiah 31:16 -
This is what the LORD says: "Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded," declares the LORD. "They (your children) will return from the land of the enemy."

No, I'm not planning to dismember anyone. I just thought the dump truck sign was a funny way to be reminded of Romans 12:19 -
Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

Don'tcha love God's sense of humor?

Wow, Brenda, a new computer? Not THAT'S an impressive M's D gift.

There's a first husband in my long ago past, too, back when I was 18 and not too bright. You can't imagine how many times I've been thankful he and I didn't have children together. Evidently his "squirm" were just like him - they were THERE but didn't do much.

Your ex is biting off his on nose to spite his face - maybe he'll figure that out someday and stop with the childish "they like me better" games.

A new computer? I'm in AWE. Makes my ugly dorky shorts sound pathetic but I never buy new clothes - so I'm happy. AND I have a new fern to kill. I give it maybe three months of time left on this earth but I will enjoy it while it's still with me.

Happy New Week!

Someday I'm going to learn to proofread these comments before I hit login and publish! Geez.

LOL... a new fern to kill. You and I have SO much in common.

Had to get a new computer because I use it for our finances, and we were afraid the old one would crash and leave us penniless. If it makes you feel any better, it wasn't a surprise. :)

I saw a comment you left on another blog saying you were from England, Arkansas...well, small world, the first part of my life and many summers was spent there. I'm sure you probably know or knew my family. For that matter, we could be related...LOL. Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say hello.

Brenda, I'm glad most of your Mother's Day was good. I am so coveting your new puter! Mine is a handmedown that was overhauled by my BIL and given to me, so I can't gripe too much about it, but it's a 98 SE and it is so out of date I can't even download some things or access some sites.

Just hang in there, as my Mama used to say, sooner or later all chickens come home to roost. Your ex will either become a non-issue, or your daughter will see him for what he is, and you for what you are. Sorry you don't get to see Sarah this time. :-( She'll wake up some day, hopefully sooner rather than later.

A new computer? That is one SASSY Mother's Day gift! :-) And you know I loved "not hatin' just statin'." :-) Hang in there, Brenda....

Oh yes, very sassy indeed. Flat screen monitor even!

Thanks to all of you for your encouraging words. My God is faithful, and I know she's in His hands.

Annette, I used to know quite a few people from England. I didn't grow up there, but I went to school there for part of 9th grade, and my grandparents have lived in Tucker all my life. If you know anyone who goes to County Line Missionary Baptist Church, then I'm sure we know some of the same folks. I had some friends who lived in Malvern, too, so yes it is quite a small world.

Holy Mama, I'm flattered. What a compliment!

Hugs to you all!
